Breed Info

Lhasa Apso

The Lhasa Apso is a charming little dog with a rich history, originating in the high mountain regions of Tibet, where they were bred to protect monasteries from intruders. These dogs are known for their affectionate and loyal nature, making them a perfect addition to families looking for a loving companion. With a moderate temperament, they can adapt well to homes with young children, other dogs, and even cats, though they may require some time to bond and establish their place within the family dynamics.

In terms of energy level, Lhasa Apsos are quite balanced, enjoying playtime and walks but also content to relax at home. Their small size makes them particularly easy to manage in apartments, where they thrive in cozy settings. While they do love to bark, an instinct that stems from their protective nature, proper training can help manage this behavior. They are intelligent and capable of learning commands, which contributes to their trainability but requires consistency and positive reinforcement.

Grooming is a delightful part of owning a Lhasa Apso, as their long, flowing coat needs weekly brushing to keep it looking its best. While they shed moderately, their luxurious fur feels soft against your skin and is a delight to pet. This breed's combination of loyalty, affection, and adaptability makes them an endearing choice for anyone seeking a furry friend. If you are searching for a Lhasa Apso in Petland Lake St. Louis & Fenton, MO, you'll find a wonderful companion who will bring joy and warmth into your life.
