Breed Info
Irish Setter
Irish Setters are a stunning and spirited breed, known for their rich reddish coats and friendly demeanor. Originating in Ireland as hunting dogs, these loyal companions have become beloved family pets and are well-regarded for their affable nature. A wonderful fit for families, Irish Setters are particularly good with young kids, showcasing an affectionate and playful temperament that makes them delightful companions for children and adults alike.
While they do need plenty of exercise to channel their high energy levels, Irish Setters thrive on activity, whether it be a long run, a hike, or just a spirited game of fetch in the backyard. These dogs require regular grooming, with a weekly brushing to manage their moderate shedding. Their sociable nature allows them to get along well with other dogs, although they may not be the best choice for households with cats due to their hunting instincts.
When it comes to training, Irish Setters possess a willingness to learn that makes them relatively trainable. They enjoy activities that stimulate both their minds and bodies, and with consistent positive reinforcement, they tend to respond well. If you’re looking for an intelligent, affectionate, and energetic companion, the Irish Setter might just be the perfect addition to your family. So, if you find yourself in Petland Lake St. Louis & Fenton, MO, consider welcoming one of these remarkable dogs into your home.
