Breed Info

Shih Poo

The Shih Poo, a delightful and charming mix of Shih Tzu and Poodle, has garnered a reputation for being an affectionate and adaptable companion. Originating from two beloved breeds, this small-sized dog has a rich history of endearment and companionship. With its gentle temperament, the Shih Poo is known for being friendly not only with families and young children but also with other dogs and even cats, making it a perfect addition for households with multiple pets.

As a loving and playful breed, the Shih Poo thrives on human interaction and is happiest when surrounded by family. Known for their middle-level energy, these playful pups enjoy moderate exercise to keep them stimulated but can also appreciate a cozy evening on the couch. Their easygoing nature makes them well-suited for apartment living, and they adapt well to various types of homes. Regular weekly grooming will keep their coats looking beautiful, and while they shed only lightly, brushing helps maintain their soft fur.

Trainability is one of the Shih Poo's strong suits, as they respond positively to consistent and gentle training methods. Their intelligence shines through during training sessions, allowing them to learn and adapt quite well. With a moderate barking tendency, they can alert you when something is amiss, yet they are not overly yappy. If you’re seeking a loving and trainable companion that enjoys both playtime and cuddles, consider welcoming a Shih Poo into your heart and home.
