The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier is a charming and affectionate breed that hails from Ireland, where it was originally bred as a versatile farm dog known for its gentle nature. This medium-sized canine is an incredible family companion, perfectly suited for homes with young kids, other dogs, and even cats. With a temperament that is friendly and tolerant, Wheaten Terriers thrive on companionship and enjoy being included in all family activities. Their playful and spirited disposition ensures that they are always up for an adventure, making them an ideal addition to active households.

In terms of energy and exercise, Soft Coated Wheatens require a moderate amount of daily activity to keep them happy and healthy. They are apartment-friendly, allowing them to adapt well to various living situations, as long as they receive regular walks and playtime. Their affectionate nature means they tend to bond closely with their families, making them loyal companions. These dogs are also known for their relatively moderate shedding, requiring weekly grooming to maintain their soft, silky coats in pristine condition.
