Breed Info

Boston Terrier

The Boston Terrier is a charming companion with a rich history that dates back to the late 19th century, originally bred for bull-baiting and later becoming a beloved family pet. With their small stature, delightful tuxedo coat, and expressive eyes, they quickly won hearts across generations. These dogs are known for their affectionate nature, making them an ideal match for families, including those with young children and other pets. Their friendly demeanor means they generally get along well with other dogs and even cats, so they can easily become a cherished member of your household.

In terms of energy and exercise, Boston Terriers strike a perfect balance. They love to play and frolic, yet their moderate energy levels make them well-suited for apartment living or homes with limited outdoor space. A few short walks and play sessions throughout the day will keep them happy and healthy. Their grooming needs are minimal, requiring just a weekly brushing to keep their coat looking great while minimizing shedding, making them a practical choice for those who prefer low-maintenance pets.

Trainability comes naturally to the Boston Terrier, thanks to their intelligence and eagerness to please. With consistent training and positive reinforcement, these dogs can quickly learn commands and tricks. While they may occasionally show a moderate barking tendency, their vocal nature is typically manageable and tends to be a part of their engaging personality. If you’re considering adding a Boston Terrier to your family, visiting us at Petland Lake St. Louis & Fenton, MO, is a great way to meet these delightful dogs and discover if they are the perfect fit for your home.
