Breed Info

Keeshond

The Keeshond is a magnificent breed with a rich history that dates back to the Netherlands, where they were cherished as companions and watchdogs for the Dutch bargemen. Known for their fox-like expression and striking, fluffy coats, these medium-sized dogs are incredibly affectionate and thrive in family settings. Their gentle nature makes them excellent companions for children, and they are known to get along well with other dogs and even cats, making them a delightful choice for a harmonious family environment.

With a moderate energy level, Keeshonds enjoy daily exercise but are also content to relax indoors, making them suitable for apartment living. Regular walks and playtime will keep their spirits high, and they love to engage with their families. While they may have a tendency to bark, this trait often comes in handy as they alert their owners to any visitors, showcasing their loyalty and protective instincts.

Caring for a Keeshond requires commitment, particularly in terms of grooming due to their thick, double coat, which sheds quite a bit. A monthly grooming session will help keep their fur healthy and reduce shedding around the home. Thankfully, their intelligence and eagerness to please make them highly trainable dogs, ready to learn new commands and tricks with consistency and positive reinforcement. If you're looking for a loving, adaptable, and charming companion, consider welcoming a Keeshond into your family; they truly make a devoted addition to any loving home. If you’re searching for a Keeshond in Petland Lake St. Louis & Fenton, MO, you’ll find a wonderful furry friend waiting just for you.
