Breed Info

Dogue de Bordeaux

The Dogue de Bordeaux, known for its majestic appearance and gentle demeanor, has roots that trace back to France, where it was originally bred for tasks like guarding and protecting. This large breed exudes a calm confidence and is often described as both courageous and affectionate, making them a wonderful addition to families, especially those with young children. Their patient nature allows them to thrive in a loving environment, where they can form strong bonds with their human companions.

Although these dogs have a relatively low energy level, they still require regular exercise and enjoy leisurely walks or playtime in the yard. Their adaptable temperament means they can comfortably be part of a family, as long as their exercise needs are met. Grooming is another important aspect of their care, with a weekly brushing routine to manage shedding and maintain their coat's health and cleanliness.

When it comes to training, Dogue de Bordeaux dogs are quite intelligent and eager to please, which aids in their trainability. A little patience goes a long way, as they respond well to consistent and positive reinforcement. Their moderate barking tendency can make them suitable for various living environments, although they are not ideal for small apartments due to their size and need for space. If you are looking to welcome a loving companion into your home, the Dogue de Bordeaux could be the perfect fit for your family. If you are in the Petland Lake St. Louis & Fenton, MO area, come meet these wonderful dogs and see if their warmth and loyalty resonate with you.
